"La Duchessa" farm is located between Castelvetro and Torre Maina, near Modena (Italy). The farm was built in the early '90s and has a small "Acetaia" (storage room for balsamic vinegar), with 150 small barrels of precious woods. The origin of these barrels can be traced back to the attics of the Cavallieri family, nicknamed "Pulisein": working people with a passion for good food and a deep respect for traditions. One of the fondest memories for the owner Ivano Cavallieri, is the unmistakable smell of the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, that comes from the attic of his house. This smell is still noticeable in his property, of which he, his wife Titiana and their daughter Elisabetta take good care. The Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena produced by “La Duchessa” can be used with hot and cold dishes such as vegetables, raw and cooked meats fish as well. It can also be used with Parmesan cheese flakes to make an excellent starter, and with strawberries or ice cream to end a succulent meal. “La Duchessa” also produces Lambrusco Grasparossa of Castelvetro DOP both dry and sweet version. A new B&B opened in September 2009: a double room with a personal bathroom is now available to guests.
