The cooperative was founded in 1960 as Cooperativa Casearia Castelnovese, but there is also a history prior to the formal establishment of the Cooperative. In fact, the families of the cooperative’s members already produced Parmigiano Reggiano in small cheese factories and only since postwar period they joined together in a cooperative association.
The cooperative is part of the consortium Granterre, one of the largest producers of milk and Parmigiano Reggiano in Italy.
